I've been drawn to creativity ever since I was little. From writing to drawing, I loved doing anything that involved colored pencils, markers and fancy pens.
Fast forward to my 20s. I got tired of not being able to find jewelry I wanted, and began to design my own, simple pieces. I discovered lampwork beads, and took a class at a Rochester, NY glass studio. I was hooked. I dabbled in hot glass for over 15 years, and began to design one-of-a-kind pieces. After many years of selling, both online and at festivals, I took a creative hiatus starting in 2018. I knew I would go back when I felt the call.
In the summer of 2019, the first thing I was drawn back in to was the world of alcohol inks, and I learned acrylic pouring. I loved the randomness of both mediums. You have an illusion of control with both, yet there is an element of unpredictability that I've always enjoyed. I'm more of a mad scientist on some days than an artist!
At the same time, my focus began to turned inward, listening to my intuition and emotions. I have found this to be intertwined with my art, and I often paint after I meditate, or think of a person and follow my instinct in selecting a palette. I have begun to educate myself on the healing and metaphysical properties and chakras for gemstones, and am again designing jewelry, this time with intent. Within this past year, I finally received my Reiki 3 Master Teacher Training and a 12 month journey in Peruvian shamanistic healing techniques, and now offer unique Reiki energy healings with a focus on removing and repairing energy blockages.
I create to feed and reflect my soul, and I am filled with joy when someone connects to a piece I have created. That is the ultimate gift as an artist.
